I am a mixed media illustrator and maker who has lived on the Fife and Kent coasts all of my life. I cannot imagine not being near the sea.
Central to my work are the themes of nature and death with recurring topics of folklore, social history, sustainability, mythology... and the odd zombie here and there.
Experimentation and layering is instrumental to what I do. Rural and urban foraging has always been something I've enjoyed and I've started using those found treasures to experiment with tying the art to a place, time or memory.
At the age of 40 I took the plunge and enrolled in a University course to study for a BA Hons in Illustration and Animation (mainly Illustration) at the University for Creative Arts in Canterbury. Having access to all their equipment has really helped me focus in and discover a love of print and alternative photography which I'm enjoying incorporating within stitch, textiles and mixed media collage.
